TUCSON, Ariz. - The UT Dallas baseball team won its second game of the day at the Tucson Invitational Games Thursday at Kino Sports Complex. The Comets (14-1) defeated Augsburg (6-8) 11-5.
UTD put a pair of runs on the board in the top of the second when senior left fielder
Lucas Rexin led off by being hit by a pitch, stole, second and third and scored on a wild pitch.
Trent McCown drew a walk, and scored on three wild pitches.Â
The Auggies took the lead in the fifth with three runs on two hits and a pair of errors. Stanley Regguinti had a two-run single up the middle in the inning.
The Comets took control of the game with six runs in the sixth. Rexin blasted a two run homer down the left field line to give UTD the lead for good. Rexin posted another two-run blast in the seventh to go up 10-3.
Noah Angus drew a walk in the eighth and scored on a double from
Adrian Guerrero Jr. Augsburg picked up a single run in the eighth and the ninth for the final 11-5 tally.
Both teams had eight hits and two errors. The Comets came up with four extra base hits while the Auggies had one. UTD also stole five bases.
Ben Price (1-0) earned the win with his longest career outing. He started and gave up four hits and no earned runs with a career-high seven strikeouts over six frames.
Reliever Michael Hesse (0-1) took the loss for Augsburg, allowing four hits, three runs and two walks over 2.2 innings.
UT Dallas Notes
- Rexin finished the game 2-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, two stolen bases and two home runs. It was his ninth multiple-hit game of the season.
- First baseman
Jayden Chatman was 2-for-4 with a RBI, run scored, double and stolen base.Â
- Shortstop
Thomas Soto had a hit and walked three times.
- Guerrero and McCown also stole bases.

Jake Jennings threw a scoreless seventh inning, allowing one hit with two strikeouts.
Augsburg Notes
- Regguinti had the only extra-base hit for the Auggies, going 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI.
- Andruw Vela was 2-for-4 with a sacrifice fly, a stolen base and run scored.
- Drew Jenkins went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a RBI.
- Davis Wick stole two bases and was hit by a pitch twice.
