Comets Outlast Cru in 10-Inning Pitchers' Duel

RICHARDSON, Texas - Junior right fielder Trent McCown drove in Jackson Montee in the bottom of the 10th to give the UT Dallas baseball team a 1-0, walkoff victory over Mary Hardin-Baylor at UTD Baseball Field Thursday afternoon.

The Comets (24-3) used a stellar pitching performance from starter Dylan Collins to keep the Cru (17-11) off the board. Collins threw nine innings, allowing just three hits and a walk with six strikeouts on just 90 pitches. Jake Jennings (1-0) earned the win with a scoreless 10th inning.

UMHB freshman starter Kolby McBee was just as effective, allowing just two hits and three walks with three strikeouts over six frames. Preston Blake threw a perfect seventh inning, then Isaac Brann (0-1) kept UTD off the board for 2.2 innings, before giving up the game-winning run.

With one out in the bottom of the 10th, Montee singled to right center and second baseman Albert Garza was hit by a pitch. After a lineout to center field, McCown took an 0-2 count and drove the ball through the left side, plating Montee for the victory.
