MARSHALL, Texas - A combined 16 home runs were hit at Woods Field Friday as the UT Dallas baseball team split a double-header with #19/22 East Texas Baptist.
The host Tigers (16-10) took the seven-inning opener 25-8, while the Comets (22-3) rebounded to win the nightcap 9-6.
Game 1
ETBU blasted seven home runs in the first contest, scoring in every inning they came up to bat. Highlights included former Comet
Luke Finn hitting a three-run homer in the fourth, immediately followed by solo shots by Carson Livesay and Luke Bumpus. Ryan Ruff also had a pinch-hit grand slam in the sixth.
UTD first baseman
Jayden Chatman hit a three-run shot of his own in the top of the sixth. Third baseman
Efren Munoz had a solo blast in the fourth.
The Tigers outhit the Comets 17-11 with 10 extra base hits. UTD had five extra base hits.
Finn was 2-for-4 with four RBI and two runs scored. Bumpus finished 3-for-5 with three runs scored. Joaquin Costa was 3-for-4 with three runs scored.

Thomas Soto was 3-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored. Munoz went 2-for-3 with the home run and two runs scored. Catcher
Nico Fernandez hit a triple and a single and knocked in two runs.
Ben Price (2-1) took his first loss of the year, lasting two innings in the start. Matthew Irwin (2-0) picked up the win with five innings, six hits, four runs, three walks and two strikeouts.
Game 2
Livesay led the bottom of the first off with a solo home run to give ETBU an early lead. Munoz tied it up with his second homer of the day in the top of the second. UTD took the lead with a two-run blast by
Trent McCown in the top of the third. Center fielder
Austin Wallace hit a solo rocket to lead off the fourth to put the Comets up 4-1.
They extended the lead with three runs on four hits in the fifth. Ben Lea had a solo homer to start the sixth as part of a two-run frame that made the game 7-3. The Tigers cut the deficit to one with a three-run home run by Hunter Rumachik in the seventh.
Munoz put the game out of reach with a two-run homer in the top of the eighth.
UTD outhit ETBU 14-10.
Trevor McGrath (4-0) started and picked up the victory by going six innings and allowing six hits, three runs, three walks and two strikeouts.
Ethan Vandament threw a scoreless eighth inning, setting up
Jake Jennings to shut down the Tigers in the ninth for his fourth save of the season.
Tyler Bogusz (3-1) was tagged with the loss, allowing seven hits and four runs over four innings.
Munoz was 3-for-4 with two runs scored, three RBI and two homers. McCown was also 3-for-4 with two runs scored, two RBI, a double and a home run. Wallace was 3-for-4 as well, scoring twice and knocking in a pair of runs. Soto had a double and a triple.
Rumachik led ETBU by going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and the three-run homer. William Howard connected on two doubles.
