RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas volleyball team overcame a two-set deficit to defeat UT Permian Basin 22-25, 21-25, 27-25, 25-21, 15-12 in Lone Star Conference play at the UTD Acitvity Center Saturday afternoon.
After the Falcons (5-8, 0-7 LSC) took the first two sets, they were up 23-19 in the third on the Comets (8-7, 4-2 LSC). The home team answered with a five-point run, which included kills from
Jane Burkhardt and
Morgan Helms and blocks by
Laura See and
Lashae Goffney. A kill from Addison Parks tied it back up at 24-24. After exchanging points and being tied at 25 each, UTD forced the next frame with a pair of kills by Burkhardt.
The Comets took the fourth set by hitting .312 on 13 kills. They led 9-6 in the fourth, but UTPB rattled off three in a row to tie the set. UTD answered with the next four points to take control and ultimately finished the come-from-behind victory with a Burkhardt kill.
The Comets hit .222 for the match with 65 kills, seven aces, 100 digs and seven blocks. The Falcons hit .212 with 67 kills, 12 aces, 93 digs and 14 blocks.
UT Dallas Notes
- Burkhardt finished with 28 kills on 81 attacks, two aces and three blocks. She recorded the third-most kills in a match in program history and second most attacks. The 81 attacks were also an Activity Center record.

Scarlette Young posted the fifth triple-double of the season which leads all of NCAA Division II. She had 14 kills, 29 assists and 20 digs.
- Helms added eight kills.

- Kaitlyn Salgado led the Falcons with 19 kills and came up with 15 digs.
- Parks finished with 18 kills and two aces.
- Nickilah Whatley recorded 11 kills, six aces and seven blocks.
- Precious Johnson had nine kills and seven blocks.
- Setter Kierra Freeman posted a double-double of 28 assists and 18 digs.
- Emma Gonzalez had 25 assists.
- Liberos Isabel Rodriguez and Kyndall Torres combined for 27 digs.
