RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas women's tennis team lost 4-2 to Northeastern State at the UTD Tennis Courts Friday afternoon.
Playing only singles, the visiting RiverHawks (1-2) took an early 2-0 lead by winning at number two and six. Sophomore
Katia Robinson put the Comets (0-4) on the board with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Sofia Kotliarova at number one.
Freshman
Sheryl Gerald evened the match up with a 6-3, 6-3 win at number five against Lucia Bontempo.Â
The final two duels came down to the third set. NSU's Daisy Barrow won 6-1, 6-7 (1-7), 6-4 over junior
Reika Nagai.
The deciding match-up at number four saw Laura Mertens top freshman
Namrata Makhija 6-7 (8-10), 7-6 (7-5), 6-3, securing the win for the RiverHawks.
UTD will be back in action on Saturday, February 21 in an exhibition against Weatherford.
