UT Dallas Men's Basketball Wins Season Finale at OC

EDMOND, Okla. - The UT Dallas men's basketball team ended the 2025-26 season with an 84-82 victory over Oklahoma at the Eagles' Nest Saturday afternoon.

The Comets finished their first season in the Lone Star Conference with an 8-20 overall record and 7-13 in league play, tying for 11th place.

The visitors shot 50 percent (17-of-34) overall and were 8-of-16 from outside in the first half and led the Eagles (12-14, 7-13 LSC) 46-35 at the break. 

UTD opened the second period with a 19-11 run, earning a 19-point advantage with 13:25 to play. OC answered with a 27-9 rally over the next eight minutes to cut the deficit to 74-73.

Jason Clark hit a lay-up and one at the line to put the Eagles up 82-81 with 47 seconds to play. The Comets regained the lead on the next possession after a tip-in basket from junior forward Zach Spitzer. After a turnover from the home team, Peyton Dulin hit a free throw to put UTD up 84-82. OC's final shot attempt was off target as time expired.

For the game, the comets shot 46.3 percent (31-of-67) from the field, 13-of-32 from outside and 9-of-12 at the line with 39 rebounds, 16 assists, 11 turnovers, one blocked shot and six steals.

The Eagles made 43.3 percent (29-of-67) of their shots, 2-of-20 from beyond the arc and 22-of-26 at the line with 34 rebounds, 13 assists, seven turnovers, two blocks and six steals. 

UT Dallas Performances
- Guard Matthew Soto led the Comets with 18 points, going 5-for-12 from beyond the arc. He also dished out six assists.
- Junior forward Jordan Balderaz scored 14 points off the bench and was 5-for-5 at the line.
- Freshman center Hudson Goellner recorded 13 points and eight rebounds.
- Freshman guard Will Warren added 13 points.
- Spitzer finished with nine points and eight rebounds.
- Dulin posted four points, five rebounds, five assists, one block and three steals.
- It was the final game as Comets for Soto and Everett Bates.

Oklahoma Christian Performances
- Jason Clark led all players with 22 points and grabbed seven rebounds. 
- Miles Gibson had a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds.
- Eliajh Bailey recorded 11 points and three steals.
- Carson Jones added 11 points off the bench.
- Ma'Syn Howell had eight points and six assists.

Comets in the Record Book
- This year's edition of the Comets ranked third in program history with 253 three-pointers made and were first with 789 attempts.
- They also were third with 361 offensive rebounds, fifth with a 1.24 assist/turnover ratio and second with 106 blocked shots.
- Dulin was ninth in Comet history with 127 assists and 4.54 assists per contest this season. He was also tied for eighth with 53 steals.
- Soto was fourth with a 2.82 assist/turnover ratio.
- Spitzer had the 10th-most blocked shots with 29.
