RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas men's tennis team opened the season with a 7-0 loss to Southern Arkansas at the UTD Tennis Courts on Friday.
Despite the loss, the Comets (0-1) offered a tough fight against the Muleriders (0-1). SAU took the doubles point by winning the top two spots. UTD's third tandem of
Ronav Aviur and
Eduardo Pastor were leading 5-4 when doubles ended.
The top two singles duels came down to the wire. In the first spot, redshirt freshman
Juan Luis Aguirre lost to Lucas Nitzschke 6-7 (2-7), 6-2, 1-0 (10-8). Senior
Benjamin Dubois took Balsa Djokovic to the limit, falling 6-2, 5-7, 1-0 (10-6) at number two.
The Comets will return to play on Thursday, February 12 at home against Delta State at 3 p.m.
