RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas baseball team secured its second straight Lone Star Conference series by defeating West Texas A&M 11-4 at the UTD Baseball Field Saturday afternoon.
Graduate student first baseman
Korson Hastings, who drove in the Comets' (4-1 LSC) walk-off run on Friday, recorded a pair of three-run doubles for a six-RBI performance on Saturday.Â
The Buffaloes (1-0) scored a run in the second, but were answered in the bottom of the frame when senior catcher
Nico Fernandez drove in
Austin Wallace with a bloop single. WT went up 2-1 in the third, but
Trent McCown gave the Comets a 3-2 lead with a two-run double in the bottom of the inning. Hastings followed with his first double of the game to give the home team a 6-2 lead.
Brock Bunker recorded a two-run single, plating Jake Alwine and Anthony Picciano to cut the lead to 6-4 in the fourth. Freshman third baseman
Gavin Barker plated Fernandez with a base hit in the fifth. Hastings made the game 10-4 with the second double in the sixth. Fernandez then knocked in Hastings for the final 11-4 score.
The Comets outhit the Buffs 15-11, including four doubles.Â
UT Dallas Performances
- Hastings' six RBI was tied for the ninth-most in a game in program history.
- Wallace went 3-for-5 with three runs scored.
- Fernandez was 3-for-4 with a run scored, two RBI and a double.
- Shortstop
Jake Amoroso reached base in all five plate appearances with two hits, two walks and a hit by pitch. He also stole two bases.
- Sophomore
Baley Ray (1-0) picked up the win with a strikeout and one hit allowed in 2.2 innings of scoreless relief.

Andrew Brown each threw a scoreless frame.Â
West Texas A&M Performances
- Jacob Police, Timothy Haynes and Luis Reyes each had a pair of singles.
- Bunker drove in two runs.
- Gavin Brummund (0-1) started and took the loss, allowing five hits, three earned runs and two walks in two innings.
