RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas women's tennis team defeated McKendree 4-3 in a close match Thursday afternoon at the UTD Tennis Courts.

The Comets (2-5) swept doubles to take the first point. Namrata Makhija and Katia Robinson defeated Alessia Baiardi and Kristina Bogomazova 6-1 in the top spot and Presley Churchman and Sheryl Gerald won 6-1 over Emmy Zsigmond and Ivana Milkova at two. Juniors Reika Nagai and Elsha Valluru won at number three 6-2 against Lena Greefs and Keira Greefs.

The Bearcats (6-7) split singles with the home team. Churchman defeated Bogomazova 6-4, 6-3 in the second flight and Nagai was a 6-0, 6-2 victor over Baiardi at three. Gerald improved to 5-2 on the season with a 6-3, 6-2 win against Milkova in the fourth spot.

UTD will travel to Florida to face Saint Leo on Monday.
