RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas baseball team produced dominant pitching and hitting performances as they won both games of a Lone Star Conference doubleheader against UT Permian Basin at UTD Baseball Field Saturday afternoon. The Comets (21-8 LSC) took the first seven-inning game with a 15-0 shutout. They followed by defeating the Falcons (8-21 LSC) with an 11-2 victory.
Game One Highlights
- UTD outhit UTPB 12-4 in their second shutout of the season.
- The Comets scored eight runs on four hits, two errors and four walks in the first inning.
Trent McCown hit a three-run double with the bases loaded to start the scoring.
- An error in the second inning led to seven unearned runs for the Comets.
Nico Fernandez and
Jake Amoroso each recorded two-run singles in the frame.
- With one out in the top of the third, Comet starter
David Dean got out of a bases-loaded jam with a double-play ball to third base.
- Dean then retired the final nine batters he faced from the fourth to sixth innings.

Jake Hamilton closed out the game with a perfect seventh inning.
UTD in Game One
- Dean improved to 4-0 on the season, allowing just four hits and two walks with one strikeout.
- McCown's double was the only extra-base hit for the Comets. He was also hit by a pitch.
- Second baseman
Albert Garza went 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI and a pair of stolen bases.
- Fernandez drove in two, scored twice and walked two times.
- Amoroso was 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI and was hit by a pitch.

Gavin Barker each scored twice. Barker also stole a base.
UTPB in Game One
- Starter Zeke Alexander (1-2) faced eight batters without recording an out.
- Santana Hernandez and Zachary Dobson each had scoreless outings on the mound.
- Right fielder Daylon Jefcoats was 2-for-2 at the plate.
- Cruz Garcia had a hit and walked.
Game Two Highlights
- UTD took advantage of the long ball with three home runs.
- They outhit UTPB 18-7.
- The Comets put three runs on the board in the first inning, which included a two-run homer to left field by
Kole Kinnison.
- Kinnison rocketed the ball over the left field fence with a two-run blast in the second inning, giving UTD a 6-0 lead.
- Jefcoats gave the Falcons their first run of the day with a solo homer to left field in the third.
- McCown added a two-run shot to left in the fourth - his eighth of the season.
- Fernandez recorded a two-run triple in the fifth, then scored on a Kinnison sacrifice fly to make the game 11-1.
- Andrew Prado knocked in Demetrius Deramus with a single up the middle for UTPB's final run of the game in the sixth.
Comets in Game Two

AJ Ripley earned his first win of the season, with two-thirds of an inning of scoreless relief.

Kole Allen struck out three batters and allowed one run and four hits over three innings.

Kasey Klyng finished the game with a scoreless seventh.
- Kinnison went 3-for-3 with two home runs, three runs scored and five RBI. He also broke the school record with his eighth sac fly of the year.
- McCown was also 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. He moved into third place on UTD's career list with 21 home runs.
- Fernandez extended his hitting streak to 11 games, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and three runs scored.
- Left fielder
Chris Benavidez was also 3-for-3 with a RBI, a walk and a double.
- Barker, Amoroso and Garza each had two hits.
Falcons in Game Two
- Jefcoats went 2-for-4 with the home run.
- Prado singled, walked and knocked in a run.
- Deramus was 1-for-2 with a run scored and two walks.
- Damian Robles (5-2) started and took the loss. He struck out four in 3.2 innings, but allowed 12 hits, eight runs and a walk.
- Cameron McClinton struck out two in 1.1 scoreless innings.

The Comets will go for the four-game sweep of the Falcons at noon Sunday.
