Camilah Porras is tied for the lead.
The Comets fired a +7, 295 in the opening round, tying for the fifth-best team score in program history. They are knotted with the host #34 CSU Pueblo and ahead of #49 Texas A&M International (306/+18), Colorado Christian (306/+18) and Seattle Pacific (308/+20) in the 15-team event.
Porras shot an even round of 72, making one birdie and a tournament-leading 16 pars.Â
Sophomore
Brooke Yount tied for the tourney lead with four birdies and shot a 73 (+1). She is tied for third. Also in the top 10 is sophomore
Carla van Remmen with a 74 (+2) and three birdies, tying for seventh. Sophomore
Syrah Javed rounded out the scoring for UTD with a 76 (+4) and a pair of birdies.
The Comets will finish the tournament on Monday.
