AMARILLO, Texas - The UT Dallas women's golf team broke several school records as they won the West Texas A&M Fall Invitational at La Paloma Golf Club on Tuesday.
The Comets won the 10-team tournament by 21 shots, shooting a 289-283-279=851 (-1), ahead of #20 WT (864/+20) and Cal State Monterey Bay (867/+23). UTD broke the team 54-hole record by 45 shots and set a new lowest round mark with the 279 on Tuesday. The Comets also led the tournament field with 43 birdies, 171 pars and were tied for the lead with three eagles.
Anvesha Gulhane was the runner-up after a playoff for first place. She broke the school 54-hole individual record with a 67-70-71=208 (-5). Gulhane also made eight birdies and two eagles.
Brooke Yount tied for eighth with a 75-68-71=214 (+1) and seven birdies.
Molly Woods posted the low round of the day, finishing with a 74-73-68=215 (+2) and tied for 10th. She recorded a stretch of six birdies in seven holes in round three and finished with 11 for the tournament.
Aaniyah Bhola was 13th with nine birdies and a 73-72-71=216 (+3). Yount, Woods and Bhola recorded the third, fourth and fifth-lowest 54 hole scores in program history, respectively.Â
Abbey Anderson tied for 36th, ending with a final round of -2. She shot a 78-78-69=225 (+12) with eight birdies and an eagle.
UTD will play again on Monday, October 12 at the Battle for the Belt in Hot Springs, Ark.
