LAREDO, Texas - The UT Dallas baseball team took both games of a Lone Star Conference doubleheader against Texas A&M International at Jorge Haynes Field Saturday.
The Comets (25-8 LSC) took the first game from the Dustdevils (11-22 LSC) 8-5 and won the nightcap 16-3, both in seven innings. UTD has now won eight consecutive games and remains tied for first place with UT Tyler in the LSC standings.
Game One Highlights
- UTD outhit TAMIUÂ 13-12.
- Sophomore
Kole Kinnison hit a solo home run in the top of the first to put the Comets on the board first.
- The Dustdevils gained a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the first with an RBI-single from Asahi Nakano and another by Tristan Cavazos.

Chris Benavidez and
Alex Miller scored on an
Austin Wallace sacrifice fly to put the Comets back up 3-2.Â
- UTD put up five runs on six hits in the fifth. Wallace had the biggest hit of the innings - a two-run single to center.
- Nakano and Giovanni Malatesta delivered back-to-back run-scoring singles in the fifth to cut the deficit to 8-4.
- The final run came in the sixth when Jesus Sosa reached on a fielder's choice and scored on a sacrifice fly by Eddie Saenz.
UT Dallas in Game One
- Wallace drove in three runs with a single and sac fly.
- Benavidez was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and a RBI.Â
- Kinnison was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a walk. The home run was his third of the year.
- Second baseman
Albert Garza drew two walks, hit a single and stole a base.

Nico Fernandez also drew two walks with a single and run scored.
- Miller went 2-for-3 with a run scored and a walk.

David Dean improved to 5-0 on the year, lasting 4.2 innings and striking out three.

Tag Pacot walked one in 1.2 innings of scoreless relief for his sixth save of the year.
Texas A&M International in Game One
- Fabrizio Salinas (0-2) took the loss in the start for the Dustdevils.
- Nakano went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
- Saenz was 2-for-2 with two runs, one RBI, a walk and a sac fly.
- Iann Cobos singled and drew two walks.
Game Two Highlights
- The Comets continued its offensive dominance, outhitting the Dustdevils 15-6.
- Right fielder
Trent McCown started the scoring with a two-run single in the first.
- McCown blasted his ninth home run of the year, a two-run shot, in the top of the third.
- Third baseman
Jackson Montee recorded his first home run of the season to lead off the fourth and give UTD a 5-0 advantage.
- The Comets scored 11 runs on six hits, six walks and a hit batter in the in the sixth for a 16-0 lead.
- McCown doubled in a run followed by a Benavidez three-run homer in the big inning.
- TAMIU got on the board with three runs in the bottom of the sixth.Â
Comets in Game Two
- McCown was 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs scored, a double and a home run.
- Benavidez hit the home run, two doubles and drove in three.
- Kinnison added two more hits with two runs and two RBI.
- Garza singled, scored twice and walked twice.
- Fernandez extended his hitting streak to 15 games.
- Wallace was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two steals.

Henry Warta (1-1) went two innings in his first start and earned the win. He allowed two hits, one walk and struck out one in the scoreless outing.

Luke Nielsen threw three scoreless frames and
Jake Hamilton closed out the game with a scoreless seventh.
Dustdevils in Game Two
- Dylan Kinney (1-5) allowed six hits and four runs over two innings in the loss.
- TAMIU had no extra base hits.
- Saenz drew two walks and scored a run.
- Salinas and Saul Soto each drove in a run.
- Soto also stole a base.
