RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas softball team renewed its rivalry with Sul Ross State on Sunday at UTD Softball Field and split a Lone Star Conference doubleheader. The Lobos (4-25, 2-20 LSC) won the opener 9-0 in six innings, while the Comets (9-17, 7-13 LSC) rebounded to win game two 5-4.
Game One Highlights
- SRSUÂ recorded the first two runs of the game in the second inning and two more in the third.
- Bases loaded walk issued to Carissa Fernandez in the fifth gave the Lobos a 5-0 lead.
- Valeria Aguilar and Baylie Savage each hit two-run home runs in the sixth for the 9-0 score.
- SRSU outhit UTD 13-2.

Sul Ross State in Game One
- Jaclyn Pate (1-9) recorded the six-inning shutout with two hits allowed and five strikeouts.
- Aguilar was 3-for-3 with two runs scored, three RBI, a walk, a double and a home run.
- Savage went 2-for-2 with the two-run homer and two walks.
- Fernandez and Elizabeth Clemente each recorded two hits.
Game Two Highlights
- Wallace hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the first to give the Comets an early lead.
- Junior first baseman
Cadence Hernandez led the bottom of the second off with a home run down the left field line.
- Hernandez connected on another solo home run blast, this time to center field, to lead off the fourth inning.
- In the fifth, Olenick singled and later scored on a double by Wallace to give UTD a 5- advantage.
- The Lobos threatened with four runs in the top of the seventh, including a two-run home run from catcher Samantha Bustos.
- UTD outhit SRSU 8-7.
Comets in Game Two
- Sophomore starter
Katie Hart (2-1) earned the complete game win, striking a career-best six batters. She gave up seven hits, one walk and one earned run.
- Hernandez was 3-for-3 with the two solo home runs.
- Wallace drove in three runs and was 2-for-3 with a double and home run.
- Olenick singled, walked and scored.
Lobos in Game Two
- Larryn Rooks (0-7), started and took the loss, allowing three runs in an inning-plus.
- Addison Castielleja struck out five over the final five frames.
- Clemente was 3-for-3 with a double.
- Bustos hit the two-run homer, her second of the year.

UTD will travel to Austin, Texas to face St. Edward's in a conference doubleheader at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
