ALPINE, Texas - The UT Dallas baseball team lost 23-13 in seven innings to Sul Ross State at Kokernot Field on Saturday. The win evens up the series for the host Lobos (4-40 Lone Star Conference) with two games to play. The Comets (31-13 LSC) were outhit 16-8.

Albert Garza led the game off with a walk and a stolen base before
Nico Fernandez hit a two-run homer to right field - his seventh of the season.
- SRSUÂ sent 14 batters to the plate before an out was recorded in the bottom of the first as part of a 15-run inning. The Lobos had nine hits, five walks and took advantage of two Comet errors.
- Jacob Binder hit a two-run home run to right as part of the scoring onslaught.Â
- UTD answered with eight runs on four hits, three walks and a hit batter in the top of the second to make the game 15-10.
- Senior right fielder
Trent McCown blasted a three-run homer in the second.
- The Lobos scored three more times in the bottom of the second to lead 18-10.
- Garza singled and later scored on a
Kole Kinnison sacrifice fly in the third.Â
- Sul Ross State added five more runs in the bottom of the third.
- McCown led off the fourth with a solo shot - his 16th of the season.
- The final run of the game came in the fifth when Fernandez led off with a walk and later scored on an error.
UT Dallas Performances
- McCown recorded his third two-home run game of the year and added four RBI. He became the 10th Comet to reach 100 career runs batted in.
- Fernandez hit the home run, drew three walks and scored three times. He also stole a base.
- Garza stole a base, singled, walked and scored three times. He is the third UTD player in program history to steal 50 bases.
- Kinnison drove in three runs.
- First baseman
Alex Miller went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
- Starter
David Dean (5-2) took the loss on the mound.
- The Comets broke a pair of single-season team records with 242 walks drawn and 80 batters hit by a pitch.Â
Sul Ross State Performances
- Brayan Navarette (2-1) earned the win in relief.
- Isaac DeJeus picked up his first save, throwing three scoreless innings with two strikeouts and one hit allowed.
- Binder was 2-for-5 with two runs, the home run, a double and three RBI.
- Joseph Binder drove in five with a pair of hits.Â
- Jayden Hernandez recorded three doubles, five runs batted in and scored twice.
- Leo Salas was 2-for-3 with four runs scored, one batted in and two stolen bases.
- Max Wiggins had three hits, including a double, four runs scored, two RBI and a pair of walks.
