ALPINE, Texas - The UT Dallas baseball team lost the final game of the Lone Star Conference series 14-4 in eight innings to Sul Ross State at Kokernot Field on Sunday afternoon.
With the loss, the Comets are now 32-14 in the league and sit in third place headed into the final series of the season.
The Lobos (5-41 LSC) outhit the Comets 19-9.
Game Highlights
- SRSUÂ scored three runs in the first on three hits and an error.Â

Trent McCown doubled in the second and later scored on a
Jackson Montee sac fly to make the game 3-1.
- The Lobos went up 6-1 in the bottom of the second on four hits and an error.
- Leo Salas made the game 7-1 in the fourth on a solo home run.Â

Chris Benavidez struck a two-run blast over the fence to cut UTD's deficit to 7-3 in the top of the fifth.
- Sul Ross put on three more runs in the sixth.

Albert Garza triple to center field in the seventh to make it 10-4.
- The Lobos added two more runs in the bottom of the frame.
- The home team ended the game via run-rule with a two-run double to center off the bat of Jacob Binder.
UT Dallas Performances
- Garza went 2-for-3 with a run scored, RBI-triple and a walk. He moves into second on the Comet career walks list with 85.
- Benavidez went 3-for-4 with two RBI and his ninth home run of the season. He also stole a base and threw a runner out at home from left field.
- McCown was 2-for-4 with a double.

Nico Fernandez singled and threw a runner out trying to steal.

Tobin Oler (6-2) took the loss. He struck out four and allowed three earned runs over five innings.
Sul Ross State Performances
- Isaac Lopez (1-9) threw all eight innings, giving up nine hits, four runs, two walks and three strikeouts.
- Salas was 5-for-5 with four runs scored, five batted in, a double and a home run.
- Catcher Juan Garcia was 3-for-5.
- Jacob Binder went 2-for-5 with two batted in on the double.
- Jayden Hernandez was 3-for-5Â with three RBI and two runs scored.
