PORTALES, N.M. - The UT Dallas softball team scored five runs in the final two innings for a comeback, 6-4 win over Eastern New Mexico in game two of the Lone Star Conference doubleheader at Greyhound Softball Field on Sunday.
The host Greyhounds (16-23, 12-20 LSC) won the opener over the Comets (13-27, 11-21 LSC) 13-1 in five innings.
Game One Highlights
- ENMU outhit UTD 12-2 in the opener.
- The Greyhounds scored a run in the bottom of the first.
- They went up 9-0 in the second, taking advantage of five hits, four walks and a hit batter.
- Giazza Lopez hit a grand slam as part of the big inning.
- Lopez added an RBI-single in the third to go up 10-0.
- Eastern added three more runs in the fourth, including a solo homer from Kayla Campbell.
- In the top of the fifth, senior
Avery Martin led off with a double and scored on a
Claire Pollack base hit for UTD's only run.
UT Dallas in Game One
- Martin went 1-for-2 with a run scored and her seventh double of the season.
- Pollack drove in the only run with a base hit.

Eastern New Mexico in Game One
- Marissa Rodriguez (8-2) earned the win in the circle, allowing two hits and one run with five strikeouts. She threw four perfect innings.
- Lopez was 2-for-3 with five RBI and the home run.
- Campbell was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, three RBI and a homer.
- Talia Martin recorded two doubles and stole two bases.
- Samantha Parisi went 2-for-3 with a walk, a steal and two runs scored.
- Christina Meneses drove in three.
Game Two Highlights
- The Comets outhit the Greyhounds 9-5.
- Meneses hit a two-run triple down the left field line to open the scoring for ENMU in the third.
- Pollack hit a solo home run to left center to lead off the top of the fourth.
- Harleigh Pearce drew a bases-loaded walk in the fifth to give the Greyhounds a 3-1 advantage.
- in the top of the sixth,
Julia Maniscalco walked and
Megan DeWitt singled for the Comets with one out.
Sydney Wheeler replaced Maniscalco on the bases.

Haley Whitefield drew a walk to load the bases for
Audrey Messer, who connected on a game-tying double, plating Wheeler and DeWitt.

Sarah Olenick drove in
Sophia Martinez, who was running for Whitefield, on a ground ball to make the game 5-3.
Rachel Wallaced followed with an infield single that scored Messer to double up the lead.
- With two outs in the bottom of the sixth, Meneses hit a solo home run to left field to cut the deficit to 5-4.
- Martin led off the seventh with an insurance home run for the final 6-4 tally.
Comets in Game Two
- Martin went 2-for-4 and hit her fourth home run of the season.
- Messer hit the game-tying two-run double, her second of the season.
- Maniscalco was 2-for-3 with a walk and a double. She tied the UTD single-season record with 16 doubles.
- Pollack's home run was the 12th of her career, moving her into a tie for ninth in program history.

Mere Cavazos (4-10) earned the win in relief. She allowed one run, one hit and struck out two over 2.2 innings. Cavazos also retired the final three batters in the seventh.
Greyhounds in Game Two
- Meneses was 2-for-4 with a triple, home run and three batted in.
- Parisi was 2-for-4 with a run scored
- Natalie Rodarte added a base hit.
- Martin drew two walks.
- Miranda Guillen took the loss in the circle for ENMU.
