SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The UT Dallas softball team split a pair of low-scoring contests with St. Mary's at the Rattler Softball Stadium Friday afternoon.
The Rattlers (22-17, 14-11 Lone Star Conference) took game one 2-1 in eight innings, while the Comets (10-20, 8-16 LSC) threw a four-hit shutout to win the nightcap 2-0.
Game One Highlights
- The contest was scoreless through the first six innings, with both pitchers throwing gems.
- UTD got on the board in the seventh when
Brooke Bouldin doubled, moved to third on an
Avery Martin single and scored on a
Sarah Olenick squeeze bunt.Â
- StMU tied the game in the bottom of the seventh. With one out, Peyton Miers reached on an error and moved to second on a ground ball.Â
- Emily Ayala doubled in Miers to force extra innings.
- The Comets put two runners on in the top of the eighth, but did not score.
- Raegan Tennhill led the bottom of the eighth off with a home run to left field to give the Rattlers the win.Â
UT Dallas in Game One
- Sophomore
Katie Hart allowed five hits, an unearned run, two walks and struck out one over 6.2 innings.
- Bouldin recorded her fourth double of the season and scored.
- Center fielder
Chloe Grimmer drew a pair of walks.
- Freshman third baseman
Rachel Wallace went 2-for-4.
St. Mary's in Game One
- Ariella Saenz (10-5) went all eight innings, allowing five hits, one run and two walks with three strikeouts.Â
- Tennill was 2-for-3 with a double, home run and a walk. She also stole two bases.
- Ayala and Gabriela Banda each recorded a double.
Game Two Highlights
- Bouldin led off the fourth with a single, advanced to second on a Martin base hit went to third on an
Audrey Messer sacrifice bunt and scored on a sac fly from
McKenna Holm.
- The Comets added a second run in the sixth.Â
- Messer was hit by a pitch and lifted for pinch runner
Sydney Wheeler, who later scored on a passed ball.
- Freshmen
Mere Cavazos and
Savannah Vanderpool combined for the shutout.
Comets in Game Two
- Cavazos (2-8) allowed four hits and struck out one over five innings for the win.
- Vanderpool fanned three batters, including the final two of the game, with two walks over two innings, picking up her second save of the year.
- Bouldin was 1-for-2 with a run scored and a walk.

Julia Maniscalco went 2-for-4, including her 14th double of the season.
- Martin was 1-for-2 with a walk.
Rattlers in Game Two
- Ayala (2-6) took the loss and gave up four hits, one run and three walks with three strikeouts over 4.1 innings.
- Emery Aguilar threw 2.2 frames, allowing an unearned run with two strikeouts.
- Abigail Dela Rosa singled and stole two bases.
