WAIPAHU, Hawaii - The UT Dallas women's soccer team opened the 2026 season with a 3-0 victory over Hawaii Pacific at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium Thursday evening.
It took the Comets until just the eighth minute to get on the board when senior forward
Gabby Thompson struck with a goal.Ā
Junior
Jules Chavez rebounded
Ella Spiller's shot in the 55th minute to put UTD up 2-0. Thompson rounded out the scoring with her second goal in the 69th minute.
The Comets outshot the Sharks 13-4 overall and 8-3 on goal. UTD led in corner kicks 5-2, while HPU committed more fouls, 6-5.
UT Dallas Notes
- The game was the earliest start to a season in program history. It was also the first contest in the Aloha State.
- Keeper
Melyna Martinez recorded three saves in the shutout effort.
- Thompson picked up where she left off last year after leading the Comets in scoring. Her two goals are the fourth multiple-goal game of her career.
- Chavez recorded the 18th goal of her career.

- The Sharks tallied five saves, with Azjah Tocher and Natalie Navarro recording two each in goal. HPU also had a team save.
- Lavinia Vaipulu took two shots on goal.
- Lua Maffia also recorded a shot on goal.
