ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The UT Dallas volleyball team finished off the Bettye Wallace Invitational with a 25-18, 24-26, 25-18, 26-24 victory over the host Henderson State at the Duke Wells Center on Saturday.
Trailing 7-4 in the opening set,
Sydney Sabin's service helped the Comets (2-1) gon a on a 9-0 run. Sabin posted three aces, while
Addison Schnautz came up with two kills and
Savannah Welch added one.Ā
The ReddiesĀ (1-2) cut the deficit to 19-17 before UTD ended the set with a 6-1 run. The Comets hit .267 with 13 kills in the opener.
UTD led 17-11 in the second, but HSU posted a 7-0 run to take a brief lead. The teams traded leads and ties before the home team finished the frame with three straight points to win 26-24.
The Comets never trailed in the third, taking the pivotal set 25-18.
The final set featured 13 ties and four lead changes. The Reddies looked to force a fifth set with a 22-17 advantage, but the Comets scored the next five points to tie it up. HSU led 24-23, but UTD finished the match with the final three points, which included a
Scarlette Young kill and a Sabin ace.

For the match, the Comets hit .170 with 56 kills, nine aces, nine total blocks and 69 digs. The ReddiesĀ hit .122 with 45 kills, six aces, nine blocks and 82 digs.

- Welch, a freshman middle blocker, hit .400 on 14 kills to go with four block assists.
