Lowery stepped into the leadership role for the Comets in 2007-08, leading the team in scoring (13.3 ppg) and finishing among the team leaders in assists (62), shooting (.489) and steals (50). Very athletic and can play inside or out. Good shooter and defensive specialist.

Lowery became a key component of the Comets' lineup as a sophomore, starting all 26 games on the 18-8 team. Thought of primarily as a defensive specialist, he still added 6.5 points per game. Appeared in 16 games as a freshman.

An honor student, Lowery was a second-team All-District selection in the 2007-08 CoSIDA/ESPN Academic All-America voting. He has also been a two-time American Southwest Conference Academic All-Conference honoree, and has received two UTD Distinguished Scholar-Athlete awards.

2009: Played in and started 31 games, .718 f throw avg, 4.0 rebound avg, 78 a, 12 blk, 10.4 avg pts. Player of the week 12/3. Academic All Conference. Earned title for Distinguished Scholar-Athlete Award. Named MVP for UTD, also named Student Athlete of the Year. Earned First Team All District 6 in the College Division of the 2009 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America men's basketball team.

HIGH SCHOOL: Lowery was his district's Defensive Player of the Year at Spring Klein HS, where he also won first-team all-district honors on a very successful team. Was a member of the National Honor Society and a participant in the National Merit Scholar program.
