Jonathan Armold was named the pitching coach for the UT Dallas baseball program in August of 2014.
A native of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Armold came to UTD after spending two years in the Milwaukee Brewers organization. Drafted in the 2012 MLB Draft in the 30th Round, Armold played in both the Rookie and Advanced Rookie leagues in his first professional season, compiling a 3.27 ERA. In his second season, he held a 4-3 record with 3 saves and a 3.89 ERA, striking out 41 batters through 39.1 IP for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (Brewers’ Single-A Affiliate).

Out of high school, Armold attended Flagler College in St. Augustine, Fla., where he would receive his bachelor’s degree as a four year starting pitcher for the Saints. After being named an honorable mention All-Southeast Region selection by the NCBWA and second-team All-Peach Belt Conference as a sophomore, Armold would go on to set numerous school records, including most starts in a career with 51, while recording 255 career strikeouts in 313.2 innings of work.

Prior to UTD, Armold served as a volunteer assistant coach at Flagler College. He was also the pitching coach for the Texas Marshals of the Texas Collegiate League during the 2014 summer season and is currently a private instructor in the Plano area.

Armold will serve as the pitching coach for the Comets in addition to pursuing his master’s degree from UTD.
