Biography

Jeremiah Valentine was one of UTD's most effective pitchers in his first season after transferring from Ohio State University-Newark. Started the season 3-1 with a 2.49 ERA before tailing off late to finish at 3-2 with a 5.12 ERA after becoming a starting pitcher. Struck out 34 hitters in 45.2 innings of work, the most of any of the regular non-starters. Could be one of the Comets' most effective pitchers in 2009.

COLLEGE: Transferred from The Ohio State University at Newark, where he put together an impressive resume in two seasons with the Titans. He won the Ohio Regional Campus Conference Pitcher of the Year in 2006 and first-team all-conference honors in 2007 on a league championship team. Was a redshirt his freshman year at Mount Vernon Nazarene University.

HIGH SCHOOL: He played high school baseball in Ohio, where he was on three all-district teams, winning first-team honors as a senior in 2004. His team won the league championship in both 2003 and 2004. Also played basketball.
