Kyle McLeroy joined the UT Dallas men's basketball staff as an assistant in August 2023.

In his first season with the Comets, McLeroy helped the Comets to an American Southwest Conference Championship and the second round of the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship Tournament. The Comets went 19-10 overall and 12-4 in league play, tying for the regular season title. He coached four All-ASC selections, including the Defensive Player of the Year. UTD went 15-10 as an NCAA Division II Independent in 2024-25.

McLeroy arrived to UTD after a two-year stint as an assistant at Newman University, a NCAA Division II school in Wichita, Kan. While with the Jets, he was the primary recruiter, created scouting reports and edited game film. McLeroy coached a pair of All-Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Honorable Mentions.

Prior to his time at Newman, he served as a graduate assistant at Dallas Baptist University for two seasons. During his tenure, the Patriots went 38-14 and made back-to-back trips to the NCAA Division II Championship Tournament.

A 2011 graduate from Cypress Ranch High School in Cypress, Texas, McLeroy began his college playing career at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas. During the 2011-2012 season, UMHB went 25-3 and was ranked as high as No. 5 in the D3hoops.com poll. Following a redshirt year, he transferred to Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas.

McLeroy's two seasons at SHSU were two of the most successful seasons in school history. The Bearkats finished with a record of 24-11 in 2013-2014. The 2014-2015 season saw the team set the school's NCAA Division I best win mark with a final record of 26-9. During Kyle's tenure at Sam Houston State, the Bearkats made two trips to the Southland Conference Championship game and two second round appearances in the College Insider Tournament. 

McLeroy earned his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Sam Houston in 2015 and his Master's in Sports Management from DBU in 2021.
