Megan Lawson joined the Comet softball staff for the 2023 season as a volunteer assistant and was a full-time assistant in 2024.

In two seasons at UTD, Lawson has helped coach 16 all-conference selections while the Comets have gone 41-38.

She started her collegiate career as a middle infielder for Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, Calif. where she hit .324 as a leadoff hitter. Lawson was a three-time Pacific West Conference All-Academic Team member, a three-year Student-Athlete Advisory Committee member, 2019 team MVP and 2018 Newcomer of the Year. 

She lettered four seasons as a shortstop for Bishop Manogue Catholic High School in Reno, Nev. where she batted .405.

Lawson obtained her bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from Grand Canyon University in 2021 and is working towards her master's degree in Sports Psychology.
