Jackie Layng was appointed as the assistant coach of the women’s basketball team at UT Dallas prior to the 2022-23 season.
In three seasons, Layng has helped the Comets go 57-22 overall and 24-10 in American Southwest Conference play, winning the title in 2022-23. She has also coached nine All-ASC selections and the 2022-23 ASC Defensive Player of the Year.
Layng spent the three years at Manhattanville College in Purchase, N.Y. In two seasons of competition, the Valiants reached the Skyline Conference semifinals twice and went 41-12.
Prior to Manhattanville, Layng spent her first two collegiate years playing guard for Division II Saint Leo University. She was a member of the Saint Leo President's Student-Athlete Scholar Club and was named to the 2016 and 2017 Spring SSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
Layng transferred her junior year to fellow Division III institution Trinity University (Texas) and was named captain as a senior. She was a member of the 2018 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference championship team, earning a trip to the NCAA tournament.
She also coached with the 2018 Warwick Valley Women’s High School summer league as well as multiple AAU and CYO teams.
Layng is a 2019 graduate of Trinity and received her Masters in Sports Business & Entertainment from Manhattanville in 2022.
