Summary

Biography

Hale finished her third season of eligibility (2009-10) as UTD’s all-time leader in blocks, eclipsing the 100-block plateau for her career. With tremendous range, Hale evolved into one of the Comets’ best dual threats over the past four years. She was sidelined with a season-ending injury in 2006-07, her freshman year, and received medical redshirt status in order to come back in 2010-11, should she choose to do so.

“Lauren is a really smart basketball player,” said UTD coach Polly Thomason. “She knows the game well. She’s a great outside shooter and can be a threat in the post with her back to the basket.”

A hard cover for opposing defenses, Hale has twice earned All-ASC East Division Honorable Mention and in 2009-10, for the first time, reeled in an ASC All-East Second Team nod. She is a three-time ASC All-Academic honoree.

2009-10: Was again the team's third-leading scorer (9.8 ppg) and leading rebounder (5.5 rpg)...started in all 26 games...scored a season-high 20 points in UTD's Jan. 21 win over UT-Tyler, and pumped in a game-high 18 points in a late-season win over East Texas Baptist...named to the All-East Division Second Team alongside Rachel Addision...selected to the ASC All-Academic Team for the third straight year.

2008-09:
Third-leading scorer (11.5 ppg) and leading rebounder (6.2 rpg)…started in 25 games, averaging 28.0 minutes of playing time…led UTD with 26 blocks…named to All-ASC East Division Honorable Mention team for second year in a row.

2007-08: Set the Comets’ single-season record for blocked shots (51)…established a new single-game blocks record (6) against McMurry on Jan. 12, 2008…averaged 9.2 points and 5.2 rebounds…sunk 27 3-pointers and while shooting 40.1 percent from the field…won All-ASC East Division Honorable Mention and Academic All-Conference.

2006-07:
Played in just four games, leading UTD in scoring with 15.5 points per game…went 10-of-20 (.500) from beyond the arc while averaging 4.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks…suffered a season-ending knee injury and was sidelined as a medical redshirt.

HIGH SCHOOL: Named district Offensive Player of the Year while playing for Midlothian HS (Midlothian, TX)…advanced to bi-district round of the state playoffs in 2005-06 (senior year)…also ran track and cross country while playing volleyball.
