A dual-sport athlete at UT Dallas, Makanani has been selected to the All-American Southwest Conference Second Team in her first two seasons with the Comets. Despite scoring just one goal—eight less than she contributed as a freshman—during UTD’s league championship run in 2009, she helped orchestrate the Comets’ midfield in their five-game win streak at the end of the season.

Described as having “incredible vision” and “precision” by UTD coach John Antonisse, Makanani also plays for the Comets’ women’s basketball team.

2009: Scored one goal and added one assist out of UTD’s midfield…totaled a team-high 48 shots…her game-tying goal in the 90th minute against Mississippi College forced overtime and eventual shootout win for the Comets in the first round of the ASC Tournament…voted All-ASC Second Team.

2008: Started in 18 of the Comets’ 21 games…was the team’s third-leading scorer with nine goals, including two game-winners…voted All-ASC Second Team.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played both soccer and basketball at Plano West HS (Plano, TX)…was part of a team that won the 2006 Texas State Basketball Championship…won First Team All-District in 2008 after earning Second Team honors in 2007 (soccer).
