Dr Kurt Beron

Dr. Kurt Beron

Dr. Kurt Beron is a professor in the School of Economic, Political and Policy Sciences at The University of Texas at Dallas. He has worked on projects spanning economics, education, sports, sociology, and psychology with a focus on cross-disciplinary applications of quantitative methodology.

Dr. Beron has been UTD’s Faculty Athletics Representative for more than 15 years and has been involved with collegiate athletics at the campus, conference, and national levels. At the conference level, Beron attends all American Southwest Conference meetings and votes on all action items.

At the local level, Dr. Beron works with the AD, VP for Student Affairs, and the UTD President on policy issues that overlap academics and athletics. He is a member of UTD's Athletic Advisory Board and has been on many athletic search committees over the years, as well as a member of various ad hoc athletic committees. Beron meets with SAAC and has successfully nominated several UTD student-athletes for the prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. Dr. Beron represents the President when there are class conflicts between academics and athletics.

At the national level, Dr. Beron has been on four DIII NCAA committees (Management Council, Interpretations and Legislation, Strategic Planning and Finance, and the Convention Planning Committee) and has twice chaired the NCAA association-wide Research Committee. He currently is in his second rotation on the Interpretations and Legislation Committee. He is a member of the DIII FAR Advisory Committee to the Management Council and is in his fifth year as an Officer on the FARA Executive Committee.
