Box Score 2 GEORGETOWN, TX (09/10/10) - For the first time this season, the University of Texas at Dallas men's soccer team came up on the short end of a close score, and they did it two days in a row. After a 3-0 start to the season, the Comets lost a pair of 1-0 games over the weekend, falling to both Southwestern and Trinity from the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC).
UTD gave up a single goal to Southwestern University on Friday in the 72nd minute, but could not score in a 1-0 loss. Trinity, ranked 23rd nationally and a team UTD has never beaten, scored in the 23rd minute and held UTD to just two shots the rest of the match.
Against SU, UTD managed just seven shots against a stingy Pirate defense and put only two shots on goal. Southwestern got its only goal when Alex Keller and Evans Perkins bounced the ball across to Steven Resnik, who beat UTD keeper
Bailey Williams for the score.
The Comets did not force a single save by Trinity keeper Jacob Truitt on Saturday.
The Comets finished their non-conference schedule at 3-2 and open American Southwest Conference play Thursday night when they host Mississippi College (2-1), which has won two straight.
