East Texas Baptist struck early, the Comets scored late and in between was tremendous play by both teams' goalkeepers. UTD's Steven Nicknish finished the battle with 11 saves, including a penalty kick in the first overtime frame, while ETBU's Cody Hopson had 13 saves.

The Tigers became the first team to score on UTD in six games as they took advantage of a corner kick in just the second minute of the contest. Brett Forbus' service from the left found Gustavo Vazquez in front of the Comet goal and ETBU grabbed a 1-0 lead just 1:17 into the contest. The goal allowed by the Comets snapped a stretch of 507:14 minutes of holding opponents scoreless. The early goal also marked the first time UTD had trailed through the first 10 games of the season.

The Comets had their chances in the opening half to net the equalizer, taking a collective 16 shots in the first 45 minutes of play. However, only three of UTD's shots were on goal as the Comets had a hard time finding their target. A deep throw-in by Jordan Rubel from the left side was flicked on by temmate Michael Darrow and landed on Jaroun's foot. Jaroun scooted the ball past a diving Hopson to knot the game, 1-1.

ETBU had an opportunity to win the game and hand the Comets their first loss of the season just 1:45 into the extra time. Nicknish came up big with a rejection on a penalty kick taken by the Tigers' Juan Ramirez and then bounced up to save the follow-up shot by Ramirez. ETBU's Peter Fitzsimmons also had a chance to end the game, but his header off of Nicknish's second brilliant save sailed high.

In the second overtime, UTD held the Tigers without a shot but again could not earn the win. The Comets took five shots in the last 10 minutes, three of which were saved by Hopson.
