Comet Men Stumble At Home Against Rival Texas-Tyler, 3-1

RICHARDSON, TX (10.04.14) - The UT Dallas men's soccer team was handed its first American Southwest Conference loss of the season Saturday night, falling at home to rival Texas-Tyler, 3-1.

The Comets (now 6-3-2, 1-1 ASC) will return to action next Saturday with then visit Ozarks in an ASC match. Game time is 11 a.m. in Clarksville, Ark.

Texas-Tyler opened the scoring in the 39th minute on an unassisted goal by Brandon Severyn as he broke away and scooted ball through Comet keeper Joseph Weber's legs to lift the Patriots to a 1-0 advantage. UTT opened its lead to 2-0 in the 77th minute on a Brandon Morris tally, scoring off a cross from the right from Severyn.

UTD countered less than a minute after the Patriots second goal as Andrew Jenson scored off a header thanks to a beautiful entry pass from defender Jake Miller in the 78th minute, but UTT iced the game with a penalty kick goal by Austin Fletcher in the 87th minute.

The Comes finished the game with 15 shots, seven of which were on goal, with Jenson leading the way with three shots, all in the second half. Weber ended the night with three saves
