Roman Rodriguez netted a pair of goals and senior
Travis White added a tally as the Comets improved to 1-1 on the season. UTD returns to action this weekend with another two-game classic, this time in Georgetown. The Comets will face host Southwestern at 7:30 p.m. Friday before challenging No. 5-ranked Trinity at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
Rodriguez opened the scoring in the 18th minute as he tallied the Comets first goal of the season thanks to an assist by
Omar Jaroun. White's goal came in the 52nd minute, unassisted, and Rodriguez completed the scoring in the 70th minute, assisted by
J.T. Hawkins.
The Comets out-shot Oglethorpe, 15-11, and finished with seven shots on goal. Rodriguez led UTD with three shots, all on goal, while White, Hawkins,
Michael Matthews and
Chase Withrow each finished with two shots.
Joseph Weber earned the win in goal, making three saves in just over 74 minutes of work.
Tyler Cotter had one save as he finished the contest.
