DANNY MEYER & TRAVIS WHITE CELEBRATE THE
FIRST GOAL WITH ROMAN RODRIGUEZ.
The Comets (3-1) got a pair of second-half goals from Roman Rodriguez and Erick Reyes to rally from a 1-0 deficit against previously-unbeaten Trinity (3-1), which was ranked No. 8 nationally in the latest NSCAA Division III poll. Reyes' goal broke a 1-1 tie with 9:20 left in regulation, and the Comets were able to hold on for the win.

The Comets had 13 losses and two ties against Trinity in their last 15 meetings, including a heartbreaker in 2013, when UTD held a 1-0 lead until the Tigers tied the score with just 1:13 left in regulation.

Trinity, which posted a 13-9 shot advantage in this match, took control early when Johnny Lawson scored off a free kick in the 17th minute. The shot careened off the side post and slipped past UTD keeper Joseph Weber to give the Tigers a 1-0 advantage they held until halftime.

A Tiger mistake just five minutes into the second period allowed UTD's Omar Jaroun to strip the ball at midfield and play Roman Rodriguez, who touched the ball twice before firing a rocket past Trinity keeper Matt Cardone.

Then, with just 9:20 remaining in the game, Jason Horvath got the ball to Reyes on the right side, and he fired a bullet that gave UTD the 2-1 lead. Trinity did have one excellent opportunity late, but a shot from Trinity's Victor Araujo caromed off the crossbar to preserve the UTD advantage.

Weber made four saves for the Comets while Cardone was forced into action just twice more.
