BELTON, TX (01.17.15) - The UT Dallas women's basketball team earned its fourth straight win Saturday afternoon, holding off Mary Hardin-Baylor, 68-62, on the road in American Southwest Conference play.
The Comets picked up their 10th win in the last 11 games to improve to 13-2 overall and 9-1 in ASC play, setting up a battle of the only one-loss teams in the conference Thursday night when UTD hosts rival Texas-Tyler (15-1, 10-1 ASC). The Comets defeated UTT, 55-47, on Dec. 6 on the road to hand the No. 16-ranked Patriots their only loss on the season. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m. at the UTD Activity Center.

Ashley Shaw set a new career high for the third time this season as she scored a game-high 18 points and grabbed a season-best nine rebounds for the Comets. Seniors

Emily Price each pitched in 11 points as the only other UTD players in double figures. Senior point guard
Madi Hess ended with six points along with eight rebounds and a game-high eight assists. Hess, the ASC's leader in assists per game, have averaged 7.5 assists per outing over the last four contests.
After giving up the opening basket of the game, the Comets rolled off nine points to grab a 9-2 lead less than five minutes into the game as four different UTD players got involved with the scoring early. The Comets snagged their largest lead of the first half, 12-4, with 14:33 left on Price's second three-pointer of the game.
Host UMHB (8-7, 4-6 ASC) rallied back and eventually grabbed a slim one-point lead, 17-16, with 7:01 remaining in the first half after a Kourtney Bevers jumper, but again the Comets responded.
Amber Brown gave UTD back the lead less than a minute later as the Comets would lead the rest of the half, securing a 32-27 lead at the break, after Price's final three-pointer with 32 seconds on the clock.
UTD would grab its largest lead of the game with 15:29 left to play as
Micaela Gonzalez drained a jumper to lift the Comets to a 43-34 advantage. But, the Comets would lose momentum midway through the half as UMHB used a 12-3 run to snag a 53-52 lead.
After regaining the lead minutes later, the Comets would again extend their lead to eight points, 66-58, on a Shaw jumper with 2:54 left to put the game out of reach. UTD held the Cru to 1-for-4 shooting over the two minutes of the game.
Shaw finished the game 7-for-8 from the field, hitting 4-of-6 free throws, and added a pair of blocked shots. The Comets shot 50 percent or better for just the third time this season, hitting 26-of-52 shots as a squad. UTD was 6-for-17 (35.3%) from three-point range, but hit just 10-of-19 free throws.
