No. 10 Comets Match Consecutive Wins Record With Shutout of LETU

RICHARDSON, TX (10.17.15) - The No. 10-ranked UT Dallas men's soccer team earned its school-record tying ninth straight victory Saturday night as the Comets battled for a 1-0 home win over LeTourneau in American Southwest Conference play.

Sophomore Isaac Urcuyo accounted for the lone goal in the contest as he finally found space in the LETU defense in the 61st minute, slicing a shot past YellowJacket keeper Miguel Cabrera. The Comets had several chances on the night, ending with 20 shots, but had difficulty finishing. UTD had 12 shots on goal while holding a fourth opponent this season without a single shot on target.

The Comets (now 13-1-1, 6-0 ASC) not only picked up a ninth straight victory, but shut out an opponent for a fifth straight contest. UTD has not allowed a goal over the last 515:38 minutes. The last goal allowed came in the 25th minute of a 2-1 road win over Concordia Texas on Sept. 26. The Comets now have 11 shutouts on the season, one shy of the program and ASC mark, set in 2008. The ASC record for shutouts is six, set by Hardin-Simmons during the 2013 season. HSU held opponents without a goal for a conference-record 676:15 during that stretch. The ASC record for consecutive wins is 10, set by Texas Lutheran, spanning the 2000-01 seasons.

Urcuyo led the Comets with five shots, four on goal, while Sam Konstanty, Connor Crabtree and Danny Meyer each finished with three shots. Keeper Joseph Weber earned his sixth shutout without making a save.

For LETU (now 4-9-1, 2-4 ASC), Cabrera finished with 11 saves in a full 90 minutes in goal. Hunter Swift had four of the YellowJackets five shots.

UTD returns to action Thursday afternoon as the Comets visit Ozarks. Game time is 1 p.m. in Clarksville, Ark.
