Women's Soccer Edged By No. 7 UT-Tyler, 1-0, On The Road

TYLER, TX (10.25.15) - The UT Dallas women's soccer team gave up a second half goal as the Comets dropped a 1-0 decision to No. 7 Texas-Tyler Sunday afternoon in American Southwest Conference play.

Freshman goalkeeper made 10 saves, one shy of her season high, as she held one of the top scoring offenses in NCAA Division III to just one goal. The host Patriots entered Sunday's game averaging better than five goals per outing, ranking second in the nation. UTT had scored five or more goals in the past seven straight contests.

After a scoreless opening half, Texas-Tyler broke the stalemate in the 56th minute as Morgan Monzingo collected her 12th goal of the season to account for the only goal of the game. Monzingo scored on a one-touch after a cross by teammate Astryd Valenzuela.

The Comets (now 11-7, 5-4 ASC) finished the contest with just eight shots, four on goal, with Melissa Fulfer leading the way with three shots, two on goal. UTT (now 14-0-1, 8-0 ASC) took 22 shots, 11 on goal, and keeper Emily Hurley made four saves.

UTD will return home Thursday night to host Louisiana College. Game time is 5 p.m. at the UTD Soccer Field.
