TYLER, TX (10.27.15) - For the second time in program history, the UT Dallas volleyball team has posted a unbeaten American Southwest Conference record after rallying for a 3-1 road win at Texas-Tyler Tuesday night. The Comets downed UT-Tyler, 22-25, 25-22, 25-21, 25-20, at the Patriot Center.
The No. 19-ranked Comets (now 24-2, 11-0 ASC) got 59 assists, nearly 15.0 per set, from senior setter

Michelle Toro 18 kills to lead four UTD players in double-digit kills as the Comets extended their winning streak to 17 matches, the second longest in school history. UTD will host the ASC Tournament, Nov. 5-7, marking the fourth time the Comets have hosted the event. The Comets went 17-0 in ASC play in 2009, en route to the program's best-ever season record (25-1).
After a tough 25-21 loss in the opening set, the Comets turned things around with three hard-fought wins to win the match. UTD hit .246 for the match, finishing the contest with nine blocks. Toro hit .361, adding five blocks and two digs, while
Holyn Handley had 16 kills,
Abbie Barth had 13 kills and
Kristyn Schott had 11 kills. Barth led UTD with 24 digs while libero
Fayna Zeng added 23 digs.
For UT-Tyler (18-9, 6-5 ASC), Brieanne Brown had a team-high 15 kills, leading four Patriots in double figures. Setter Rebecca Floyd finished with 52 assists, 14.0 per set, while Shabrondra Prox led five UTT players with double-digit digs with 18. The Patriots hit .198 as a team and finished with six blocks.
The Comets return to action next weekend for three matches at the Trinity Tournament. UTD will face Trinity at 6 p.m. Friday before facing Simpson (12:30 p.m.) and Southwestern (3 p.m.) Saturday in San Antonio to close out the regular season.
