SAN ANTONIO, TX (10.30.15) - The No. 19-ranked UT Dallas volleyball team picked up its 18th straight victory Friday night with a 3-1 road win at Trinity as part of the TU National Tournament.
The Comets (now 25-2) will wrap up the regular season Saturday with a matches against Simpson (12:30 p.m.) and No. 12-ranked Southwestern. UTD will then host the American Southwest Conference Tournament, Nov. 5-7, at the UTD Activity Center.
After dropping the opening set 25-20, hitting just .147 as a team, the Comets rallied to keep their win streak alive with three big wins in the key regional contest. UTD responded with 25-17, 25-20, 25-14, wins to seal the comeback victory.
Senior setter
Kayla Jordan, the NCAA Division III leader in assists per set, finished the match with 54 assists, averaging 14.50 assists per stanza.
Abbie Barth led four Comets in double digits with 15 kills, adding 13 digs.
Michelle Toro had 13 kills,
Holyn Handley and 11 kills and
Emma Wallbrown finished with 10 kills.
Kristyn Schott collected eight kills along with 17 digs and three blocks. Libero
Fayna Zeng matched Schott's team high with 17 digs.
The Comets finished the match hitting .260, settling down after the opening set. UTD had seven blocks and six aces.
