No. 25 Comets Bounce Back With 7-0 Home Win Over Louisiana College

RICHARDSON, TX (10.29.15) - Six different players scored as the No. 25-ranked UT Dallas men's soccer team sailed to a 7-0 home win over Louisiana College Thursday to close out the American Southwest Conference schedule.

The Comets (now 14-2-2, 7-1-1 ASC) tied the program record for shutouts in a season against LC, collecting their 12th clean sheet of the year to match the mark set by the 2008. UTD will look to break that record Saturday afternoon as it celebrates Senior Day against Belhaven at 3:30 p.m. at the UTD Soccer Field.

Sophomore Danny Meyer accounted for two of the Comets' seven goals, extending his team-leading total to 11 on the season. He also picked up his third assist on the season, one shy of the team lead. Meyer finished with 11 total shots with a school-record eight shots on goal. Prior to Thursday, the UTD single-game record for shots on goal was six, set by several former Comets. Meyer's 11 shots were one shy of the school record of 12, set by Omar Jaroun last season.

UTD kicked off the scoring barrage in the 5th minute as Isaac Urcuyo scored his fourth goal in five games, scoring off a rebound of a Meyer shot from 10 yards out. Jason Horvath doubled the Comets lead to 2-0 in the 10th minute, tallying from five yards out after an entry pass from Jordan Rubel. Meyer's first goal of the night came in the 25th minute from in front of the LC goal after a cross from the left by Sam Konstanty.

Meyer's second goal of the evening gave UTD a 4-0 advantage as he scored on assisted tally in the 60th minute, scoring past a diving LC keeper. James Valley (73'), Michael Matthews (82') and Richard Tapia (90') would all add their first goals of the season late in the contest.

The Comets finished the rout with 36 shots, including 18 shots goal, both season bests. After Meyer's 11 shots, Kevin Whatley was second on the squad with eight shots, three on goal, while Andrew Jenson came off the bench to take five shots.

For the Wildcats (1-15-1, 0-7-1 ASC), keeper Nathan Gautreaux finished with 11 saves, allowing seven goals in a full 90 minutes. LC managed just three shots, two on goal. Both shots on goal came in the final 15 minutes of the game.
