RICHARDSON, TX (10.31.15) - The UT Dallas men's soccer team closed out the regular season Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 home loss to Belhaven.
The No. 25-ranked Comets (now 14-3-2) managed just nine shots in the contest, only two of which were on goal.
With the conference championship tournament looming next week, Coach
Jason Hirsch elected to rest the majority of his regular starters in the Saturday finale. UTD will open the American Southwest Conference Tournament Saturday in the semifinals after receiving a first-round bye. The location for the ASC's men's event has yet to be determined.
Belhaven (now 13-3-1) opened the scoring in the 10th minute on a goal by Cillian Thompson. John Ledbetter added a second Blazer goal in the 22nd minute to lift BU to a 2-0 halftime advantage. Lucas Talaveira-Befi finished the scoring with a goal in the 68th minute.
Michael Matthews and
Rodrigo Balmaceda each finished with a team-best two shots while
Tyler Cotter made two saves, playing the first 66 minutes, while
Nolan Walker played the final 24 minutes without needing a save.
