CLARKSVILLE, AR (12.05.15) - The UT Dallas men's basketball team collected its fifth straight win to open the season Saturday afternoon with a 77-73 road victory at Ozarks in the American Southwest Conference opener for both teams.
The Comets (now 5-0, 1-0 ASC) won't return to action until Saturday, Dec. 19, as they open the Centenary Classic against Rust in Shreveport. UTD will the face event host Centenary on Sunday, Dec. 20, to close the fall semester.
Sophomore
Noah Hill led five Comets in double figures as he drained five three-pointers for a team-high 17 points. Hill was 5-for-8 from long distance and added five rebounds and four assists off the bench for UTD.
With just under 12 minutes left in the opening half, the Comets got back-to-back three-pointers from Hill and
Kyle Coulter to grab a 18-12 advantage. UTD would not trail again for the contest, leading by as many as 13 points before the break.
The host Eagles (now 4-1, 0-1 ASC) would draw within two points, 61-59, with 6:41 left in the game on a Kelby Robinson lay up, but the Comets answered on their next two possessions with three-pointers by Hill and
Dapo Ogunfeitmi.
Caleb Banks finished with 16 points with six assists, while Coulter had 13 points, Ogunfeitmi 12 points and
Reagan Keogh 10 points and a team-high 10 rebounds for his second "double-double" of the season.
The Comets shot 43.3 percent (26-of-60) from the field, hitting 13-of-31 three-pointers (41.9%), and shot 54.5 percent (12-of-22) from the foul line.
For Ozarks, Josh Berard scored a game-high 27 points while Robinson had 19 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. The Eagles shot 43.1 percent (28-of-65) from the field, hitting 7-of-24 three-pointers (29.2%), and were 10-for-17 (58.8%) from the line.
