Comets Take Over ASC Men's Soccer Lead With 2-1 Win at CTX

AUSTIN, TX (09.26.15) - The 17th-ranked University of Texas at Dallas men's soccer team took over the lead in the American Southwest Conference standings Saturday evening, handing Concordia Texas its first loss of the season, 2-1.

Sophomore Danny Meyer scored his team-high fifth goal of the season unassisted in the 66th minute to break a 1-1 deadlock. Goalkeeper Joseph Weber was called on to make five saves as the Tornados out-shot UTD, 11-7. The Comets only put one other shot on net that did not result in a goal.

The Comets (8-1-1, 2-0-0 ASC) had to rally from an early 1-0 deficit, tying the match at 1-1 in the 31st minute on Andrew Jenson's second goal of the season following an assist from Kevin Whatley. CTX had taken a 1-0 advantage 24 minutes in on a goal from Fabian Billings.

The Comets return home next weekend, hosting McMurry University in a non-conference matchup Thursday night followed by a showdown with defending ASC champion Hardin-Simmons Saturday afternoon.
