RICHARDSON, TX (09.04.15) - Junior
J.T. Hawkins tallied the game-winning goal with 5:30 left in the first overtime period as the UT Dallas men's soccer team blanked Pacific Lutheran, 1-0, Friday night in non-conference play.
Hawkins netted his second goal of the season, scoring the first goal in UTD's 2-0 win over Texas-Tyler Tuesday, as the Comets countered after a strong PLU near the midpoint of the first extra frame. Hawkins collected a ball just outside the box and laced a shot off a Lute defender into the right corner of the net to boost UTD to victory.
The Comets ended the game with 15 shots, eight of which on goal, with Hawkins and Reyes leading the way with four shots each. Hawkins took three shots on goal and Reyes finished with two shots on frame. UTD keeper
Joseph Weber made three dramatic saves as he made his first appearance of the season after an injury. The Comet defense limited PLU to just eight shots, three on goal.
Next up for the Comets is a 7:30 p.m. Saturday match with Whitman as UTD wraps up its first week of the season.
