MARSHALL, TX (10.15.16) - The UT Dallas women's soccer team made it two road wins in a row Saturday evening, powering past East Texas Baptist, 4-1, in American Southwest Conference play.
Melissa Fulfer scored twice for the Comets (now 9-5, 6-2 ASC), and
Jacquie Kaufman and
Megan Mugavero were credited with two assists apiece. Mugavero also scored for the Comets.
UTD outshot the Tigers, 19-6, putting 12 shots on goal. ETBU goalkeeper Lexy Montgomery stopped eight, but the UTD offense struck early and often to pull away.
Sophomore
Melissa Fulfer netted UTD's first goal just 7:50 into the match off the first of two Kaufman assists. At 24:20, Mugavero got on the board, aided again by Kaufman. Nine minutes later, Fulfer went to work again, putting a Mugavero assist in the net for a 3-0 lead at the half.
ETBU (5-4-4, 3-2-2 ASC) finally got on the board in the 62nd minute on a goal by Gabrielle Henry; but the Comets answered at 74:36 on a
Jessica Rusk tally, again scoring off a Mugavero assist.
The Comets return home next weekend for a Thursday showdown with rival UT Tyler, followed by a meeting with the University of the Ozarks on Saturday.
