SAN ANTONIO, TX (09.10.16) - After holding its own against No. 5 Trinity University through a scoreless first half, the UT Dallas men's soccer team saw the Tigers score twice in a :40 span to start the second period and hang on for a 2-0 win.
The Comets (2-3-0), playing without three starters, saw Trinity (4-0-0) connect twice on scoring plays just 3:04 and 3:44 into the second period. Though UTD outshot the Tigers 8-6 the rest of the way, Trinity hung on for the victory. All three early season losses for the Comets have been against nationally-ranked teams.
At the break, UTD keeper
Joseph Weber had stopped four Trinity shots on net to preserve a scoreless game after the Tigers held a 7-3 shot advantage. UTD finished the game with three shots each from
Andrew Jenson and
Jordan Henderson.Â
The Comets are now off for a week before playing their home opener Sunday, Sept. 18 against UC-Santa Barbara.
