RICHARDSON, TX (09.22.16) - The UT Dallas women's soccer team picked up its fourth consecutive victory Thursday night as the Comets cruised to a 3-0 home win over Concordia Texas in American Southwest Conference play.
The Comets (now 4-2 after an 0-2 start) notched their second consecutive ASC win to improve to 2-0 in the conference race.
UTD handed the Tornados (3-2-1, 1-1 ASC) just their second loss of the young season by scoring a pair of first-half goals, then notching a third just :21 into the second half. Concordia did manage 13 shots in the game, but Comet goalkeeper
Monica Dallacasa was perfect with four saves in pitching the shutout. UTD countered with 20 shots, putting seven on net.
Jessica Rusk got the UTD game winner just 16:09 into the match, touching the ball in off a
Melissa Fulfer corner kick (one of five the Comets had during the game). Freshman
Jadyn Wilson then scored her first collegiate goal, taking a pass down the middle from
Megan Mugavero and Kacey Musgrove at the 34:13 mark.
The second half had just barely begun when Mugavero picked up her team-leading fourth goal of the season off a pass from Rusk, turning from about six yards out and punching it in to make it a 3-0 game.
UTD returns to action Saturday when they host Mary Hardin-Baylor in the seventh of eight straight home games to start the season.
