Box Score CHICAGO, ILL (09.03.16) - The UT Dallas men's team battled another national power Saturday afternoon before dropping a 1-0 decision to No. 23 University of Chicago with just :51 seconds left in the first overtime period.
A foul on UTD freshman defender
Brad Rivenes inside the Comets' box set up a penalty kick to end what had been a defensive struggle between two top teams. Chicago's Andre Abedian fired a penalty kick past a diving
Joseph Weber for the game-winning goal.
Until that point, Weber and the Comets had kept the nationally-ranked Wildcats at bay. Weber stopped eight shots on goal in the first 99 minutes. UC had a 13-2 shot advantage on the Comets, who got just shots from
Erik Reyes and Christian Cruz. Cruz had UTD's only shot on goal.
UTD had had a one-man advantage for most of the second half after a red card was issued to the Wildcats' Brenton Desai, but Cruz picked up a red card for UTD with minutes remaining and the two teams played even the rest of the game.
UC improves to 2-0 on the season while the Comets drop to 0-1-1. UTD finishes its three-game road trip with a 1 pm match against Illinois Tech Sunday afternoon.
