Box Score ABILENE, TX (09.30.16) - In a matchup of two of the top teams in the American Southwest Conference, the UT Dallas men's soccer team played Hardin-Simmons to a 1-1 tie on the road Friday afternoon.
The Comets (now 5-3-1, 2-0-1 ASC) out-shot HSU, 15-14, managing six shots on goal, but Cowboy keeper Michael Vargas kept UTD at bay. Comet keeper
Joseph Weber was equally as impressive, making three saves.
After a scoreless opening half, HSU's Tanner Coffin broke open the stalemate in the 75th minute with a header off of a corner kick. However, UTD freshman
Alfredo Kaegi evened the match in the 80th minute thanks to a penalty kick.
Kaegi finished the afternoon with a match-high five shots, three on goal, while
Erik Reyes,
Brad Rivenes and Kasden William each tallied two shots.
UTD returns to action Saturday with a 2 p.m. game at McMurry, also in Abilene.
