No. 16 Comets Celebrate Senior Day, Blank Louisiana College

RICHARDSON, TX (04.22.17) - The No. 16-ranked UT Dallas softball team closed the regular season on a school-record 12-game winning streak after a 7-0 home victory over Louisiana College Saturday afternoon to wrap up a three-game American Southwest Conference series.

The Comets (32-8, 24-6 ASC) will now head to the ASC Tournament for the fourth time in the past five seasons and seventh time in program history. UTD will serve as the No. 3 seed in the event and will open play at 10 a.m. Thursday against No. 6-seeded Concordia Texas, on the campus of Texas-Tyler.

Sara Davison (5-3) scattered four hits in just her second shutout of the season. Davison fanned four Wildcat batters and did not issue a walk in her 7.0 innings of work.

The Comets opened the scoring in the bottom of the 1st on an RBI double by Brittany Perkins, scoring Melissa Livermore, and then erupted for six runs on six hits in the 3rd to pull away for the series sweep.

UTD kicked off the scoring in the 3rd with an RBI ground out by Hope Griffith, scoring Ravin Wilson. The Comets would then score five runs with two outs. Perkins followed with her third home run of the season, eighth of the season, to give UTD a 3-0 lead before the Comets would load the bases with three straight singles. Kendall Moore then plated two runs with a double to left-center and the Comets brought home two final runs on wild pitches.

Perkins finished the game 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored, finishing the three-game series 5-for-8 with six RBI and four runs scored.
